EXCELLENT USED FULL WORKING ORDER - KEEPING GOOD TIME This is a lovely burr/figured walnut clock retailed by Garrards, the Queens jewelers, and manufactured by the famous firm of F.W.Elliott of London. It is number 41 of a limited edition of 250 made to commemorate Daniel Quare. It was made in the 1970s and is of the early 18th century style and is of the very finest quality. The caddy topped case is veneered in burr/figured walnut and has a gilded brass carrying hand. The sides are glazed so the working movement can be seen, as is the rear door. The brass and silvered brass dial has subsidiary dials for chime/silent and time regulation. The centre subsidiary dial has chime selection for three different melodies which operate at every quarter. It also has automatic chime cancellation between 11pm and 7am. This is a sophisticated clock having a month duration movement which has three wire driven fusees and a platform escapement which allows to clock to be easily set up and portable. It is in perfect working order. To find a clock such as this that runs for a month on a single winding is very rare indeed . The 8 graduated bells sound lovely and the hours strike on a larger bell. The chimes and strike have been refined to sound delicate and do not overpower the room. It measures 15in or 38cm High + 5cm Handle (when up). Width 25.7cm. Depth 16cm.
