Description A SUPERB ANTIQUE VICTORIAN EBONISED (GILT & GESSO) PICTURE FRAME.
*R = Rebate.

Measuring approximately 44cms   by  37cms  and with  a rebate size of 37cms   by  29.5cms . Actual sight is 350mms by 275mms .

This is a really excellent ebonised picture frame.
I usually tend not to bother buying ebonised frames as most of them are so badly damaged, this one however is in very good condition.
I would  date it at a rough estimate to about 1850, Mid-Victorian.
This frame is a good size with some lovely gesso detail to the border. A wonderful swirling foliate ivorine pattern raised up & quite tactile. It has a nice dotted pearl trim to the back edge. It also comes with some major brass fittings to the back of the frame thus making it quite easy to hang.

Condition: In very good condition with no large missing pieces of gesso, there is some light mottling to the ebonised back edge (this can be seen in the first few photos if you look at the bottom edge) but this can't really be seen when the frame is hung , naturally some age commensurate wear, please see all of the pictures ..
  N.B. All of my frames have some form of age commensurate wear - as this is NOT a modern repro there will be slight imperfections but this is the essence of owning an antique picture frame. Please do refer to the detailed photographs, they are an accurate reflection of the very good antique condition. This is a beautiful original period iece from a bygone era, it is a frame that will grace any wall ..
