Seller: pendragon_antiques (909) 100%, Location: Spalding,, Ships to: GB, Item: 173855339183 1906 - 1915 Ansonia 'Bee' 30 hour clock. The Bee was classed as a novelty clock and was one of many produced by the Ansonia Clock Company of New York between 1906 and 1915. These little clocks were available with a nickel coated or plain brass case and with a paper, brass or ceramic and brass dial. They ranged in price (in 1906) from $1-60 up to $3-25 depending on how “posh” you wanted the clock to be! This clock has the paper dial and nickel case combination. The Company gained a US patent on 23rd April 1878. This is stamped into the rear of the back plate. The movement is a 30 hour pin pallet movement and is just a timepiece (no alarm). Although only a 30 hour clock, it actually runs for nearer to 48 hours. What is even more remarkable is that it keeps time to within a couple of minutes a day which for one of these clocks is incredible. Apparently they were not that good when they were new. A fast and slow regulator is located in the base of the clock. It is unfortunately missing the little dial to change the time, as photographed. The nickel case is also in quite good condition with minimal wear and its feet are both present and correct as is its little loop carrying handle. It has the “Diamond A” trademark often seen on Ansonia clocks. The dial is protected by a flat beveled edge glass. These clocks were supplied in a tin when they were new. These tins had a picture of the Ansonia works on the lid. Sadly, this clock does NOT have its tin. Please study all of the pictures as they can probably describe this fantastic little clock far better than I can. The item will be posted insured via Royal Mail.
