For sale here is this superb, French, ormolu and porcelain bell-striking mantel clock. This beautiful, antique clock is topped with a large, kneeling figure of Cupid with his bow and arrow. The porcelain panel beneath the dial is beautifully hand-painted with two winged cherubs carrying a basket of flowers, on a highly unusual, deep royal blue ground . There are oval, framed porcelain paintings of flower bouquets (also on a deep royal blue ground) on either side of the clock. The back of the case is impressed with a P.H.Mourey mark. The clock dates to circa 1865-80.
The 8-day, bell-striking movement has been checked and oiled and is working well. The clock will come complete with a pendulum and key.
It measures approximately 14 inches high, 11 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches deep. It is in very good antique condition. The dial and porcelain are all fine. The back edge of the case (at the bottom) has a bit of an indentation, just at the centre leg.

Antique and vintage clocks may require to be set up and put into beat again after transport. Firstly, the clock must be on a level surface to run properly. Sometimes, slight adjustments have to be made after transit to get the clock running properly in its new position. I am happy to advise you on how to do this, either by email or phone. I can help you with making any adjustments required, but I am not responsible for this. Alternatively, if you are unsure about adjusting the clock yourself you can enlist expert help.
