A vintage Burroughs Wellcome & Co testing kit in what looks/feels like a faux leather case and belt with six original empty test tubes inside. It was designed to hold eight test tubes.
The case is about 12cm wide, 16.5cm long, and 3cm deep. When opened and lain flat, it is 34cm wide.
Four of the existing six test tubes have their original cork stoppers. Two of those four have circular BW&Co red company labels on top of the corks. The glass test tubes are in good condition with no cracks or chips.
There is a slim leather emtpy pocket inside that I think was designed to hold a syringe. It has a press stud closure. The top of the press stud is missing its cover, but the little case still clicks shut.
The leather side lining of the pocket that holds the test tubes has ripped probably due to wear/age and has come away.
On one of the inside flaps, there is an engraved picture of a very large industrial company site with four chimney stacks. Smoke is blowing from the industrial chimney stacks. Underneath that picture are the words:
Works and Laboratories of Burroughs Wellcome & Co. No.134
There is an embossed picture of a horse on the other inside flap - which I presume was the BW logo and a rectangle with the words:
Trademark of the TABLOID brand
Burroughs Wellcome & Co
London Sydney & Cape Town
The case also has its original strap with buckle. The buckle looks quite tarnished.
