This ornate and finely carved clock was made by the renowned black forest clock maker Gordian Hettich & Son, it was listed in their 1903 catalogue. Overall dimensions :- Height (not incl. pendulum) 770mm Width 480mm Depth 260mm Length of carved Fox. 370mm " " " Bird 270mm Size of carved Dogs Head 120mm x 120mmClock case . 303mm H. x 250mm W x 145mm D The clock has been restored, parts of the fine leaf carving has been replaced, and the Stags head is not original The hands are bone but not original, pendulum and weights are not original, the bellows and pipes have been refurbished, but as far as I know the rest of the clock is original Hettich. The movement has been stripped and cleaned, and is in full working order. Since restoration the clock has run for several weeks without fault. The animals and leaf carvings are beautifully done , the Stags head is mounted on a nicely hand painted shield (see picture). There are a few minor age related scars, but nothing serious. The clock has also a fascinating history. The previous owner bought it directly off the then owner of a stately home called Knocklofty House in Clonmel, Tipperary, Southern Ireland. Knocklofty House was for generations the seat of the Donoughmore / Hutchinson family. In the mid. 1970s members of the family were kidnapped by the IRA, held for five days then released when the Irish Government resisted their demands. After several ownerships the house became an Hotel, which I think is now closed and the house put on the market. Postage. Normally, to prevent damage, my restored clocks are listed for collection only, however as I think there might be overseas interest in this clock , I would purchase a purpose built packing case. This and carriage costs will be expensive and take a some time to obtain , The costs would be Invoiced to the buyer and when paid the clock would be despatched. Every effort would be made to ensure the clock is well packed and safe, but I will not accept any responsibility for any damage incurred, and will not accept any return. The buyer also to pay any Insurance ,Import duties or other duties imposed, if preferred buyers can arrange for their own courier to collect when informed that clock is ready for dispatch , uk. buyers would find it a lot cheaper to collect. Viewing. Viewing prior to purchase is welcomed, and can be arranged via. eBay messages. Payment. Cash on collection is preferred, but Paypal is acceptable. I think this clock will get a lot of interest, and I will consider any reasonable offers.
