Item:223807160603Please find for Buy it Now or Best offer an Edwardian Wardrobe and Dressing Table Matching set, dated 1912, the Arts & Crafts period. We purchased this set a number of years ago but unfortunately it will longer fit in our new home which is why it is reluctantly up for grabs. The dressing table is made from solid Oak planks with machine dovetailed drawers. The dressing table is detachable and is formed of three pieces. The framed mirror, the top framed section and the drawer base. The framed mirror has a copper and possibly ebony wood detail to its mirrored frame which is also replicated on the wardrobe too. (see pic 7) The mirror can be tilted and is attached via the turned spindles which form the structure of the dressing table top frame. This section has a drawer on each side and a shelf which links them. All drawer fronts have copper effect handles with accents to the Arts & Crafts era, see pic 4. The dressing table base consists of 2+2 drawers, these handles are also found on the wardrobe door & drawer and match. Now to the wardrobe. This again is constructed in three parts. The top corniced surround, the main wardrobe section with a mirrored central door and the bottom drawer section. The internal wardrobe structure appears to be constructed of solid pine with the exterior made of solid oak planks, the same as the dressing table. The two framed panels, either side of the mirrored door appear to be flame oak veneer's in four sections, with a copper & ebony diamond detail. These panels are set within the wardrobe frame again with the copper and ebony detailing at the top two corners of each panel. The wardrobe exterior frame is made again of solid oak panels as is the drawer base which has one massive, machine dovetail drawer, with copper effect handles again matching those on the dressing table base. Internally the wardrobe has several hanging hooks and two rotating hooks. Both pieces are original to their build, which from the label inside the wardrobe dates the set to 1912. When we purchased this set someone had added a new chrome rail which we have left in place but this could be easily removed should you wish. Please look carefully at the photos taken as they form part of the description. The condition of the set is excellent in my opinion with the only thing to note being that the dressing table mirror does have some spotting to the silver backing, see pic 6, this is commensurate to the age of the item. The only reason we are selling this stunning set is the fact that unfortunately for us, it won't go up the stairs of our new property.
