You are bidding on a very nice French A.C.C brass 8 day key wind carriage clock, which I would say dates from the late 1800s or early 1900s. The top of the movement is marked 'A.C.C', but it does also carry the distinctive Couaillet family trademark arrow, so was probably made by Couaillet for A.C.C. It has been fitted at a later date with a good quality, Swiss, compensated lever escapement. The clock has been fully dismantled, including the platform escapement, and has had both a manual and ultrasonic clean. It has then been checked and had any necessary work done on it, before then being re-assembled and oiled, so is in excellent working condition. When stripped down, the mainspring was removed from the barrel, checked, and properly lubricated before being fitted back. The mainspring is the 'heart' of a clock, so it is important that it is serviced properly. The last five pictures show the movement, after cleaning, before being assembled back into its case. There are a few very light age related marks on the movement, but these are quite minimal. The clock runs for its full length of wind which is the region of eight days. It comes with a modern double ended brass carriage clock key. The white enamel dial is in excellent original condition with no hairlines, but does have slight top left and right hand corner damage which has had a previous repair. This is small on both corners and difficult to see as it is up under the top of the case. It has nice clear numerals and blued steel spade hands. All glasses are bevelled, including the top oval one, and are free from chips and cracks - the top one does have a few light scratches. The brass case is in very good condition, with only a few very light age related marks. It has been polished by hand, but has not been over-polished, so preserving the detail. It has then been coated in a very high quality wax specially made for the brass plates and cases of clocks, which acts has a tarnish inhibitor. It has a nice, rich coloured, polished finish. The solid brass handle is nice and tight, and the back door closes nicely as it should. The clock is approximately 11cm tall to the top of the case, and just under 14.1/2cm tall to the top of the handle when it is up. Base width is approximately 8cm. I have tried to be very accurate with my description and mention everything I feel the buyer should know, however, please contact me if you have any further questions. The clock will come with a service report showing what work has been done on the movement, and I will also enclose a set of my clock information sheets, written generally to cover the set-up and maintenance of most types of clock. I will always be happy to give extra specific information if needed. UK mainland 24 hour shipping will be by DPD - the clock will be double boxed in new boxes to ensure that it reaches you in perfect condition. I welcome overseas bidders - the clock will be shipped by Royal Mail or UPS, depending on your location. Item Number KMW1548 If you are bidding on any of my other auctions, I will combine postage on multiple items. Any items paid for by Paypal will only be sent to a Paypal approved address. All UK items will be sent, unless otherwise stated, by Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded. All items, if under the maximum weight limit of 2kg when packed, will be sent overseas by Royal Mail Airmail International 'Tracked and Signed' service unless otherwise stated. Items are now sent this way to conform to eBay/Paypal regulations that safeguard both the buyer and the seller. This can make the shipping charge, particularly for overseas bidders, higher than possibly expected as the Recorded/Signed For service adds to the UK postage, and to a greater extent, to the overseas postage. I can accept no responsibility in the very rare event that items get lost in the post, but I will endeavour to do all I can to help the buyer by contacting Royal Mail and getting them to do the necessary search. Please be aware that it is illegal to falsify the value or contents on Customs documentation and under no circumstances will I do this.
