This is Geneviève Alizier Desvres style faience, fine country French art pottery. This style includes production techniques whereby tin glazes and decorations are applied and worked in stages upon a modeled terra cotta pottery form, and then fired several times in a kiln.

*ORIGIN OF THE ‘Ag’ MARK

The Alizier family, two brothers and a sister, Geneviève, regularly bought several biscuit items (raw and undecorated pieces) at the Fourmaintraux Courquin Factory, circa 1875- 1900. The Alizier family decorated the faience items, marked them with their own signature, and then fire glazed them for the last finish glaze in the Fourmaintraux Courquin Factory.
