Breathtaking over-sized paisley shawl elaborately designed with traditional Kashmir styling and jacquard handloom woven in wool.

Vibrant color combinations featuring amazingly intricacies.  Mid-nineteenth century European example, likely from Scotland, where most European paisleys were produced in the Scottish town of Paisley. Amazing workmanship and detailing.  Every prominent, fashion-conscious Victorian woman had at least one as part of her trousseau.

In very good condition for its age and previous use as an outer shawl used by a Victorian woman to protect her elaborate clothing on important outings where a coat would be too cumbersome or nearly impossible over the larger bustled skirts of the day. 


  There is a very slightly color faded or blotch in center field--See picture!  There are some tiny holes mended by professional. Two very small size missing at the corners. There are rusty stains in center—please see the photos! This shawl never being washed dry-cleaned or pressed.  This shawl is in its original state.   This shawl is smoke-free and has no odor.
