The dial is signed by the maker "William H Thompson" of Liverpool who is a very well recorded clockmaker from c1865 with the word regulator also engraved to the top of the dial. The clock benefits from its original super high quality brass 8 day duration 5 pillar movement with shoulder thick plates. The movement with dead beat escapement, Harrisons maintaining power & is a superb very heavy regulator. The maker is "William H Thompson" it has a Cylinder Mercury Pendulum and Brass Weight, there is also the added feature of a fine beat adjuster to the top of the crutch for setting the fine beat of the escapement. The movement is of 8 day duration and is driven by its brass weight and original Mercury pendulum which is extremely heavy. The movement has all very good regulator features which you would expect to see on a very high end precision regulator clock with fine screw adjusters to every pivot bush. The movement is in excellent working order and keeps accurate time expected from a quality precision regulator. The Clock measures:(All measurements are approximate) High: 94"Width: 28" at widestDepth: 11" at deepestThe trunk measures: 18" wide x 9.5" deepThe Dial measures: 16" in Diameter This is an exceptional antique C1865, English highly carved mahogany precision regulator longcase clock with all the features you would like to see from a top quality regulator clock which has a stunning cabinet with designs of amazing proportions. The case has a Regency design with a highly carved top which is all of superb quality with a full length glazed door to the front which is in excellent undamaged condition through which the original regulator pendulum and brass weight can be seen on display. The door has its original lock and key to the top, the middle one is redundant but could be replaced. There is also a lock redundant on the bezel which could be corrected. The bezel opens and closes fine.The case has a true regulator clock look to it with a circular dial and original regency glass to the hood and trunk and has got superb large proportions. The flame mahogany case has a superb figured patina and colour to it which is acquired through age and looks absolutely stunning but much more impressive in the flesh and the quality is second to none. The case is in very good condition for age and looks grand and impressive wherever it is displayed and having large proportions being 94" high. The clock has a brass cast hinged door to reveal access to the clean silvered regulator dial. The clock benefits from its original 16" diameter silvered circular dial with a true seconds beating subsidiary and original hands, the dial has a true regulator design with the three separate dials for the seconds, minutes and hours GeneralThe photos do not show how wonderful this clock isThe clock would fetch a tidy sum in an Antique Shop or Dealers. Condition: The carved mahogany clock case has a superb figured patina and colour to it which gives it an awesome display look and which is acquired through age with a highly carved top and full length glazed trunk door with the original regency glass to it in excellent condition. The case has no sign of woodworm and is in excellent condition for its age. The silvered dial is also in great condition very clean signed to centre by the maker "William H Thompson of Liverpool". High quality regulator movement in full working order with dead beat escapement and maintaining power.
