This is a wonderful Victorian PICKLE CASTOR featuring a 16 Lobe, Frosted Polka Dot art glass, PUMPKIN or MELON shape Jar/Insert. It fits perfectly in the scalloped rim bowl of the footed silverplate frame - made for each other!
The frame has a square topped handle with corner openwork embellishments topped with a fancy finial. The head of a bearded man tops each foot.
A long handled Pickle Fork in 1847 Rogers "Charter Oak" pattern is included. Circa 1890's
Marked: Meriden Silver Plate Co. / 648 / Quadruple Plate (hard to read - stamped above the round hallmark)

Condition:A pretty POLKA DOT PUMPKIN Pickle Castor - Perfect for Fall! There are a couple rim chips on the bottom part of the jar - completely covered by the lid - No cracks or repairs. Very little wear to the silverplate, has a lovely antique patina - Very likely an ORIGINAL set! Circa 1890's
