DESCRIPTION:
This is a wonderful 8-Day Rolling Moon inlaid mahogany longcase clock which is in superb condition and is exceptionally detailed. The is an exceptionally majestic clock as can be seen from the photographs. The clock is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. This clock is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for a clock to place straight into their home.
If we start with the hood, this has swan necks with superb brass pateras, with wonderful flowers painted on the panel below. Pretty reeded double columns, flank the hood door; with half columns on the hood door itself and full turned columns to the outer edge which creates a very grand effect. To the rear are half reeded columns.
If we then move down to the trunk, it has a lovely shaped door has some wonderful grain to the mahogany and below the door is a lovely applied mahogany panel which is framed with stringing. Above the door are three lovely inlaid oval panels which incorporate conch shells. The door is then flanked by full reeded columns. Below the columns are wonderful inlaid panels of urns which are beautifully detailed. The door is also complete with it's lock and key which is fully working.
Finally the base has canted corners and is inlaid with a frame of stringing and four corners to this has lovely floral inlays. It is raised on lovely splayed bracket feet.
The dial with makers name of 'GEORGE MONKS, PRESCOT', has the four corners adorned with beautiful delicately painted flowers and gilded gesso work. The dial is set out with Roman Numerals. There are subsidiary second and date dials. The Rolling moon is wonderful with the paintings of the moons and also lovely painting of a galleon and a cottage scene. The dial also has the most wonderful fretted fingers.

The movement is eight day duration and is rack striking on a single bell. The movement is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. As can be seen from the photographs the movement is immaculately clean.

The approximate dimensions are:
- 92.75 inches high
- 25.75 inches across the widest part of the hood
- 18.5 inches across the trunk
- 23.5 inches across the widest part of the base
As can be seen from these dimension this is a clock of lovely proportions.
CONDITION:
The clock is in wonderful condition. The movement is immaculately clean and in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced.
