Fantastic condition and the colour that as aged with over three hundred years is superb, The clock has three lovely Marquetry panels, the top panel in in the shape of a tear drop which are rarer to find . The case itself is very slim 79 1/2 inches high with nice cross banding to the sides, The door is 42 inches long. The hood has four lovely slim ebonised pillars which are slightly tampered from the bottom to the top.The hood also has a spoon catch to lock the hood when the door is closed, Robert Wilkins was born on 1646 and apprentice in July 1660 to 1667 to Thomas Fenn and was free Jan 1670 He then took an apprentice Edward Jackson who was free 1680. Chosen Stewart 1686 but excused the fine still outstanding in Sept 1687 because he had suffered great losses and expenses (presumably in the stewards feast) The was still alive in 1705 but reputedly died in 1706. He also made watches one signed Ludgat street signed Robert Wilkins London. Baillie says he worked at the Royal Exchange. A lovely clock and wants to be seen to be appreciated.
