Seller: donril (1,922) 100%, Location: Northern France, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 193370862757 Antique Morbier / Comtoise Longcase Clock Movement c.1830 - Verge Escapement This is a lovely earlier 19th century morbier or comtoise clock movement. It is weight driven and has a verge type escapement. You can date this fairly precisely to 1830-40 by the fact it has a pressed brass "fronton" (surround) which is in two pieces. After around 1840 they were stamped out in a single piece. The verge-type escapement is another clue, as this went out of use around 1840 in this type of clock. As far as I can see, the movement is complete and strikes the hours and half hours on a bell. However, I have NOT tested this, so you may find problems I have not spotted. There is no pendulum or weights. I will gladly offer you weights free of charge but please note these would add around 8kilos to the shipping and therefore additional shipping cost. Please let me know if you are interested. The rear metal door is misisng but otherwise the box is fine. Do also please note that this is fairly heavy. This explains the high shipping cost. Thanks for your interest. Age: Antique, Pre-1900, Clock Type: Longcase/ Grandfather Clock
