PLEASE VIEW OUR EBAY SHOP FOR THE OTHER CLOCKS & ANTIQUES WE HAVE LISTED ALL OUR CONTACT INFORMATION IS LISTED UNDER 'BUSINESS SELLER INFORMATION' DESCRIPTION: This is a wonderful 8-Day oak and mahogany eight day longcase clock which is profusley inlaid in boxwood with oval inlays to the hood. This is an exceptionally good quality case with incredible detail in the inlays and boxwood stringing. If we start with the hood, this has swan necks with superb brass pateras, with lovely fretwork detailing to the centre of the swan necks. Reeded columns which terminate in brass capitals flank the hood door and there are plain back splats to the rear. The door is mahogany veneered and is inlaid with boxwood striniging. Above the hood door is inlaid with three ovals of inlay. If we then move down to the trunk it has a lovely fully length door cross banded in mahogany. The door is then flanked by quarter reeded columns which terminate in brass capitals. Finally the base has canted corners and has a shaped applied panel which is nicely cross banded in mahogany and is raised on ogee bracket feet. The dial with makers name of 'T. Richardson, Weverham', has the four corners adorned with wonderful sprays of flowers and fruits. The dial is set out with Roman numerals with small Arabic Numerals above and to the centre are superb paintings of more flowers. There is subsidiary second dial and date aperture. The dial also has fretted fingers. The movement is eight day duration and is rack striking on a single bell.MAKERS DETIALS: There is one Thomas Richardson of Weaverham listed in 'CLockmakers of Cheshire by Keith Appleby':'RICHARDSON Thomas WEAVERHAM Clockmaker 1795'. DIMENSIONS: The approximate dimensions are: - 85.5 inches (217.5 cm) high excluding finial / 87.5 inches (223.5 cm) high including finial - 22.25 inches (56.5 cm) across the widest part of the hood - 16.5 inches (42 cm) across the trunk - 22.25 inches (56.5 cm) across the widest part of the base. As can be seen from these dimension this is a clock of lovely proportions. CONDITION: The clock is in wonderful condition as can be seen from the photographs. The movement lovely and clean and is happily ticking and chiming having recently been cleaned and serviced. This wonderful clock would make a super addition to any home, so happy bidding.
