The clock is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. This clock is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for a clock to place straight into their home. If we start with the hood, this has a flat top finished with a lovely shaped pediment. Pretty reeded columns which terminate in brass capitals flank the hood door with plain back slats. If we then move down to the trunk it has a lovely fully length door cross banded in mahogany. The door is also complete with it's lock and key which is fully working. The door is then flanked by quarter reeded columns. Finally the base has is a shaped applied panel which is nicely cross banded in mahogany. The front corners are canted and the clock is raised on lovely ogee bracket feet. The dial with makers name of 'Leadbeater, Sandbach', has the four corners adorned with delicately painted shells in gold leaf and anchors. The dial is set out with Roman Numerals with small Arabic Numerals above. There are subsidiary second and date dials. The dial also has the most wonderful fretted fingers. The movement is eight day duration and is rack striking on a single bell. The movement is in perfect working order having recently been professionally serviced. There is are two 'Leadbeater, Sandbach' listed in 'Clockmakers of Cheshire by Keith Applyby', as this clock dates to circa 1820 it is likely to be by Thomas rather than William: - 'LEADBEATER, Thomas P. SANDBACH. Clock and Watchmaker. Bridge Street 1822 - 50.' DIMENSIONS: The approximate dimensions are: - 83.75 inches (213 cm) high - 24 inches (61 cm) across the widest part of the hood - 16.25 inches (41 cm) across the trunk - 21.75 inches (55 cm) across the widest part of the base As can be seen from these dimension this is a clock of lovely proportions. CONDITION: The clock is in wonderful condition as can be seen from the photographs. The movement lovely and clean and is happily ticking and chiming having recently been cleaned and serviced.
