The clock is totally original, dial to movement and to case. The case has some nice details and is sold as requiring a service but is ticking away nicely. There is one Joseph Richardson of Northwich in 'Brain Loomes Watchmakers & CLockmakers of the World Volume 2' : 'RICHARDON. Joseph. Northwich 1857-78'. If we start with the hood, this has swan necks, with wonderful cross banding around the edge of the panel below. Pretty square reeded columns flank the hood door. The door is mahogany veneered and inlaid with stringing. The shaped trunk door has some wonderful grain and is cross banded. The door is also complete with it's lock and key. The door is then flanked by square reeded columns which have been nicely inlaid with stringing. Finally the base has canted corners and has a shaped applied panel which is mahogany cross banding. It is raised on ogee bracket feet. The dial has the four corners adorned with fruits, foliage and shells. The dial is set out with Roman Numerals. There is a subsidiary second and date dial. The center of the dial also has two lovely painted birds and is signed 'Jos Richardson, Northwich'. The movement is eight day duration and is rack striking on a single bell. The approximate maximum dimensions are : 24 1/2 inches / 62 cm wide across hood, 17 3/4 / 45 cm wide across trunk, 22 inches / 56 cm wide across base x 85 1/4 inches / 216.5 cm high CONDITION: The clock is in nice condition just minor knocks / marks commensurate with age and odd chips to veneer. The dial is in original condition and as such minor fading with age. The clock is totally original, dial to movement and to case. The clock is sold as requiring a service but is ticking away nicely.
