The case incorporates some incredible ormolu detailing and is finished off with five lovely brass finials. This is a superb clock made by the renowned makers Winterhalder & Hofmeier, GERMANY. A lovely feature is that the movement is lovely being quarter striking with a 'ting tang' strike. If you are looking for an exquisite clock, this one will surly fit the bill. The arched door opens to access the dial which is in perfect condition. The dial is a work of art in it's own right. The dial is brass and has a separate chapter ring which is beautifully etched with Roman Numerals with small Arabic numerals above, between the numerals is further beautifully etched. To the four corners and to the arch is adorned with lovely detailed spandrels and it is finished with a super pair of shaped fingers. To the arch is another dial to regulate the clock namely the 'FAST/SLOW' The door is flanked by lovely ormolu detailing with a maidens head, again the attention to detail is outstanding. The clock is finished with five wonderful finials. The clock is raised on pretty decorative scroll feet. To the sides are lovely beautifully detailed fretted brass panels lined in red fabric. There is a lovely brass fretted door to the rear lined in fabric, the door is complete with a lock but there is no key. The case is in lovely condition, and has a lovely rich patina and is a lovely rich honey colour. It is very difficult to convey through photographs the level of fantastic workmanship which has gone into this clock. But as you will note from the photographs there are fine detailing which set the clock of wonderfully. The clock has recently been serviced and as such is happily ticking away and keeping good time. The clock chimes one 'ting tang' on the quarter past, two 'ting tangs' on the half past and three 'ting tangs' on the quarter to. Finally it then strikes the hours on the hour. The movement is access via a door to the rear this has a lovely fretted panel which is lined in fabric. The movement is stamped with with the 'W & H Sch 2' which is the trademark for the renowned makers Winterhalder & Hofmeier, GERMANY who made high quality clocks mainly for the English market. In addition this clock comes complete with it's winding key and pendulum. DIMENSIONS The approximate dimensions are: - 11 inches wide (28 cm) across feet. - 7.5 inches (19 cm) deep across feet. - 15.5 inches (39.5 cm) high. AGE: The clock dates to circa 1880.
