The case incorporates some incredible carvings and is finished off with an exquisite shaped pediment which is exquisitely carved. This is a superb clock made by the renowned makers Winterhalder & Hofmeier, GERMANY. A lovely feature is that the movement is lovely being quarter striking with a 'ting tang' strike. If you are looking for an exquisite clock, this one will surly fit the bill. The door opens to access the dial via a square key. The dial is nicely silvered and it is set out with Arabic numerals and it is finished with a super pair of shaped fingers. To the top of the dial are two subsidiary dials one is the 'CHIME / SILENT' which allows the chimes to be switched off if required and the 'FAST / SLOW' dial which allows the clock to be regulated. The door is flanked by finely carved columns and above and blow the dial is further carved detailing, again the attention to detail is outstanding. The pediment to the top is also beautifully carved. Then to the sides there are two bevelled glass panels which allows the movement to be viewed. The clock is then raised on lovely brass bracket feet. The case is in lovely condition, and has a lovely rich patina. It is very difficult to convey through photographs the level of fantastic workmanship which has gone into this clock. But as you will note from the photographs there are fine carvings on the pediment which set the clock of wonderfully. The clock has just been serviced and as such is happily ticking away and keeping good time. The clock chimes one 'ting tang' on the quarter past, two 'ting tangs' on the half past and three 'ting tangs' on the quarter to. Finally it then strikes the hours on the hour. The movement is access via a door to the rear this has a lovely fretted panel which is lined in red fabric. The movement is stamped with with the ' W & H Sch' which is the trademark for the renowned makers Winterhalder & Hofmeier, GERMANY who made high quality clocks mainly for the English market. In addition this clock comes complete with it's winding key and pendulum.
