There is one Owen Richards of Bala listed in 'Wales Clocks and Clockmakers by William Linnard' : 'RICHARDS, Own. Bala. High Street 1844 - 56 (directories). Father of William. Longcase clock known, including one stamped 'Owen Richards Bala 182' on back of plate) which plats tune every three hours, in Museum of Welsh life, St Fagans (Figur 9.21, pages 132 - 3)'. The very pretty painted dial is in lovely original condition. Case is made form oak and mahogany cross banded but will require some restoration. Please view the pictures carefully to get a good idea of the condition. The movement is lovely and clean as can be seen from the photographs and is happily ticking and strking away. It come's with one weight and pendulum.. It measures approximately: 84 1/4 inches / 114 cm high, 20 inches / 51 cm wide across hood, 14 1/4 inches / 36 cm across trunk , 19 inches / 48.5 cm across base.
