17th Century Hall Chair Heavily Carved Splatback Country Oak Postage Available.
This 17th Century hall chair boasts heavily carved patterns to the chair, such a fantastic feature only prevalent in a truly historical item.
Displaying a wonderful bright oak patina to the central carved splatback, that connects to the upper curved backrest rail, with a heavily carved inter twining design that leads down the side rails.
Connecting to a solid oak square seat with a diamond and spiral shape carved in the seat.
Leading down to two carved square and figured front legs, with a connecting rail with a sunburst design carved into it. The front legs are connected with a solid turned spindle, and 2 square stretchers to either side that connect to the 2 solid square back legs.
Finished with two circular carved front feet, with odd bits of wood chipped out.
Dating back to the 1700s, this antique chair has stood the test of time, that has historical construction ensuring that it is not only beautiful but also functional.
Such a delightful country style Hall chair that would fit perfectly in a farmhouse or rustic house decor, with fantastic features that make this chair stand out in many living room, hallway, dining room or kitchen setting
Overall this chair is in good antique condition, with signs of use, wear and damage, as to be expected from an antique item with years age.
There is a bit of oak missing to the upper rail where you can see a joining nail (as photographed).
There are several large cracks down the centre of the seat, one to the backrest, and one to the underside of the chair.
Still a structrually solid and proud historical chair.
