This stunning, large and chunky antique wooden picture frame, circa late 19th century, has ornate textured and moulded gesso running through the border of the classically styled inwardly curved fascia, all finished in a wonderful and naturally aged gold gilt. It also has slips / an inner frame, that is also finished in a matching gold gilt, but which can easily be removed if you would prefer.

It has aged naturally and very beautifully with some marks, gorgeous patina and some damage to the gold finish and moulded gesso detailing in places, all really adding to the incredible character and charm (please see 'condition' above for more information).

An incredible and very beautiful antique gilt frame that is perfect for artists to mount their work or as a stunning decorative item in its own right.

This is a large sized frame and measures approximately 71.5cm x 56cm with the aperture measuring approximately 50cm x 34.5cm with the slips / inner frame fitted and 56cm x 40.5cm without it.
