Conrad Kurz History:

This prominent Dutch company founded by Conrad Kurz in 1886 focused on the manufacture of metal ware for domestic use: tea and coffee services, lamps and decorative objects. In the 1930s, about 1000 men and women worked in the Tiel business. Tiel is known for its metal factories. In 1899 a new factory was developed with a steam engine, and in 1906 he started a second factory in Kleve in Germany in gas and kerosene lamps. With more than 100 employees he was also producing copper, nickel-plated and gilded decorative objects and aluminium products for the household. Developing works in the Arts and Crafts style and also produced products in the style of the German Jugendstil, New Art and Later the Amsterdam School. During WWI  they produced ammunition. After WWII they used raw material, such as aluminium and copper for jars and stoves. The company flourished and a second generation took over the factory. The company started producing products from so-called New Silver (Alpaca). From 1960 they switched completely to the traditional production of tin objects such as old Dutch and figurines with traditional trades, responding to the nostalgic trend that emerged in dutch and Belgian residential interiors.
