Item:295038211526Antique Victorian Silverplate Serving Dish, Divided Clam Shells Condiments etc. Antique Victorian Silverplate Dish. I'd consider this some type of serving dish, perhaps for condiments or hors d'oeuvres. There are four divided sections, three of them are shaped like a shell and ornately engraved. The fourth section has a scalloped edge but isn't as ornate as the others and has a small hole at the back - there's also a hook to hang something above it, so perhaps a spoon was once hung there and the bowl went into this section? On the back there are a few more mounts which perhaps once held small spoons or perhaps spreaders/knives or some type? No makers mark, but does have a UK design registration mark. A quick search on the UK National Archives website brings up the manufacturer as possibly "John Gallimore, Manufacturer of silver and electro plated articles". Located in Sheffield (England). Registration date December 12 1894. Overall size of the dish is approx. 6-3/4" wide x 6" deep x 6" tall. Overall condition is good, especially considering age and use. It has some tarnish and some wear to the silver plate. There may be some subtle dings/dents, but nothing that stands out to me. I have noted a few scratches on the underside. Sold "as-is" (no returns). Please see photos for more details. B9
