Antique REMEMBER O.V.R.M. Single Weighted Walnut Vienna Clock : LEES NOTTINGHAM

DESCRIPTION:

This is a fantastic and rare oak Vienna wall clock, which is of lovely proportions and of a wonderful design. The oak itself is a wonderful colour and it is very rare to find a Vienna  such as this in oak. The dial is signed 'LEES NOTTINGHAM'.  Vienna clocks with movements signed "Remember" as this one is are highly sought after by collectors because of their superior mechanical quality. 

With regards to the case, the top has a wonderful Architectural  pediment which is finished with a lovely shaped and fretted design to the centre. Moving down, the hinged door has a near full length glass window which is arched at the top  with lovely applied rosetta above the arch over the dial,  and flanked by canted corners with pretty turned detailing to top and bottom. To the side are glazed panels which creates a lovely backlight effect. The bottom platform has a lovely shaped section and has inverted half turned finial to the centre. 

The dial has a lovely chapter ring marked out with Roman Numerals. The clock also has lovely shaped fingers which sets it off beautifully. 

The movement is an 8 day movement and is a latched movement showing the quality of the clock. The clock also comes complete with winding key and pendulum.

The movement is marked REMEMBER, O.V.R.M. Co. The Remember Company was formed in 1872 by Gebr. Resch of the Resch Brothers in Ebensee, Austria (the Northern Central Part of Austria). Vienna-style clocks with signed "Remember" movements are highly sought after by collectors because of their superior mechanical quality. 

The movement is stamped with  the number '59453' as is the movement  bracket and pendulum. The movement is happily ticking away but is but is not sold with a warranty , because it will need setting up correctly and adjusted and setting into beat once it has been moved and transported. This will require some knowledge of mechanical clocks but if you have any problems then you can contact me.

The clock is Victorian and dates to circa 1880 /1890.

The approximate maximum dimensions are: - 47 inches / 119.5 cm high. - 15 3/4 inches / 40 cm wide.

- 6 3/4 inches / 17 cm deep.

From the above dimensions is can be seen that the the clock is of lovely proportions.

CONDITION:

The clock case is in lovely condition as can be seen from the photographs, just minor marks commensurate with age. There dial has some very faint fine cracks. The movement is happily ticking away but is but is not sold with a warranty , because it will need setting up correctly and adjusted and setting into beat once it has been moved and transported.
