Antique 19th century French brass 8 Day carriage clock, with winding/setting key. The case is brass framed with bevelled glass panels to all four sides, and a small oval panel to the top showing the balance wheel. The clock face is white enamel with black roman numerals, and the movement is a key-wind, with key-set time adjustment. Balance adjust is marked "S" & "F" for slower and faster, but also "R" & "A", for the French Retard and Avance. Maker "A.C.C.L.", as yet unidentified, but French in origin, circa 1890. Currently working, but service history is unknown, so may benefit a service. In previous testing (10 months ago), the movement ran for over 8 days on a full wind, but running 4m fast per day, or 35m on a full wind. No recent testing has been made. Comes with a leather bound travel case. The enamel face has a diagonal hairline crack to the top left. The brass case is unpolished with a patina, but there are chips to the edge of two of the glass panels to the side and back. The movement is in working condition but doesn't keep accurate time (gaining 4m per day or 35m on a full wind), because of this and the unknown service history, it would benefit a service. Continued working order and time keeping cannot be guaranteed. The travel case is missing its glass window, and the carry handle is detached and in two pieces. The clock measures 80mm wide by 63mm deep by 110mm high (142mm inc raised handle). The case measures 107mm wide by 95mm deep by 140mm high. It has an item weight of 740g (clock only), and a total item weight of 980g (inc. key & travel case). Please Note: Items listed are vintage or antique and may have varying degrees of wear from age and use. You are encouraged to view all photos associated with the listing to familiarise yourself with the condition. All weights and sizes are approximate. No Buy-It-Now price and no offers, auctions will run until ended. Check delivery address when paying. Payment within 4 days please. Items maybe cancelled after then. 2 day dispatch time, however items paid before 5pm (UK time) are normally posted the next working day. Feedback is left, and tracking uploaded, once the parcel is in the postal network. Any 3rd party delivery times stated (Ebay, Royal Mail, etc.) are to be used as a guide, and are not guaranteed.
