These clocks are renowned for their quality of manufacture and date from around 1869. The company Winterhalden & Homeier was formed in 1850 and genuine movements were stamped with the initial letters on the brass backing plate W&H SCH (see pictures). The features of this clock are as follows, and all illustrated in the pictures:Genuine Antique W&H 8 Day Alarm Bracket clock complete with original key for winding the running side (left), alarm (right) and small key for adjusting the alarm time. Ring (R) and Silent (S) switch to operate or disable alarm.Movement: A particularly nice 8 Day brass movement, has been lightly cleaned and had a full oil service, has a very quiet tick (ie. doesn't disturb you), the clock has an attractive brass pendulum which can be seen going back and forward from the rear. The accuracy is adjusted on the pendulum wheel, wind the wheel up to go faster, down to go slower. It does not chime on the hour but the alarm goes off on the bell and lasts for half a minute unless turned off. The clock and alarm need only to be wound once a week. It is keeping good time. After transportation they sometimes need minor recalibration. To adjust the time move the minute hand forwards Never backwards. The Alarm: A really interesting and relatively rare feature. The subsidiary dial is marked with outer rings in red (a little faded) and black with an arrow showing the direction to rotate it when adjusting the time. The black figures show the hours from 7pm to 6am, and the red from 7am to 6pm. Using the small key rotate the hand to opposite the time you want the alarm to sound. It goes off on the bell and lasts half a minute. If left on R (Ring) the alarm will go off at the same time each day. If you don't want to use the alarm then move the switch to S(Silent). Only adjust the time arrow by moving it forwards in the direction of the arrow, never backwards. The case: In excellent original condition, has had a light Danish Oil and Beeswax polish Everything works as it should, original glass. Attractive carving with brass hinges, retaing hook etc.The face: Attractive original clock hands. There is some fading and discolouration to the face with some small chips around the winding holes. Some restoration around the one o'clock area. However, in normal positioning this does not detract from an attractive, thoroughly original antique clock. Price: I have listed this fantastic original clock at £99.95 including an oil service!
