This well figured walnut veneered single weight wall clock was manufactured by Wenzel Schonberger of Austria in the late 1800s. The maker’s name can be seen on the clock dial. The clock is of 8 day duration and in excellent original working condition.

The door to the case is flanked with fluted pillars, acanthus leaves and Corinthian capitals supported by 2 rectangular panelled blocks, the backboard also has a panelled insert. The veneered base to the clock is typical of the period and there are carved embellishments either side with carved finials. The top pediment is of the architectural type with 2 mouldings and a central finial. The clock is smaller than an average weight driven Vienna regulator and has a dial 6” in diameter in place of the usual 7” or 8” dials.

As with all Schonberger Vienna regulators the movement is of the highest quality having dead beat escapement for accurate timekeeping. The movement is clean and is original to the case. It is keeping excellent time and working reliably.  I have included some pictures of the movement at the end of the item description.

The white porcelain dial has Roman numerals, it is in good condition with the exception of some very faint hairlines between the 7 and 8.  And the 4 and 5.The brass bezel  surrounding the dial has had some repairs,these can only be seen when the movement is removed from the case.The pulley, brass cased weight and pendulum are also in good condition. The pierced steel hands are of typical Schonberger style. As can be seen from the photographs, although over 100 years old this clock is in superb original condition requiring no restoration at all.

If the clock is to be sent by post it will be securely packaged in a custom made heavy duty double wall corrugated cardboard box with adequate bubble wrap and other materials to protect the clock, these boxes cost me £18. Only world leading couriers will be used with full on line tracking. Of course collection of the clock is also an option and the new owner of the clock will be able to see the clock running and time will be taken to demonstrate the setting up procedure after the clock has been moved.
