Seller: njd.derby (994) 100%, Location: Derby, Derbyshire, Ships to: GB & many other countries, Item: 303097519735 MORE PICTURES AFTER ITEM DESCRIPTIONThis walnut veneered striking wall clock was manufactured by the highly collectable Lenzkirch clock Co of Germany. The clock is similar to model No 357 as illustrated in Dana J Blackwell’s book of Vienna regulators of Lenzkirch and Lorenz circa 1870. The unsigned movement has a serial number 13 stamped into the back plate of the movement .This clock would date from the mid-19th century it is of 8 day duration and in excellent original working condition. The well-proportioned and slim case is in excellent condition and veneered in figured walnut which has an excellent original gloss finish along with a nice patina consistent with a well preserved antique. The door to the case has canted corners with intricately shaped and turned pillars giving the case an elegant and stylish appearance. The detachable top pediment is of the architectural style and to either side there are 2 matching finials with a larger central finial. The veneered base is of typical Viennese style. The case is in excellent and totally original condition. The original levelling screws and brackets are present and the glass to the sides and the door of the case is original. As with all high quality German clocks the movement is of the highest standard having solid plates and pinions and dead beat escapement for accurate time keeping. The movement is clean and original to the case. It is keeping excellent time and striking reliably. Striking is every hour (once for each hour indicated) and then once for every half hour on a coiled steel gong fixed to the movement mounting bracket. Unusually the movement has rack striking as opposed to the more commonly used count wheel system. I have included some pictures of the movement at the end of the item description. The white porcelain dial is in excellent condition with the exception of some minor scratches to the dial centre. The steel hands and the elaborate cast brass pendulum are also in excellent condition and are of typical Lenzkirch design As can be seen from the photographs, although over 100 years old this clock is in superb original condition requiring no restoration at all. Height 37 inches Max Width 13 inches Max Depth 6. 1/2 inches Dial diameter 5 inches. If the clock is to be sent by post it will be securely packaged in suitable heavy duty double wall corrugated cardboard box with adequate bubble wrap and other materials to protect the clock . Only world leading couriers will be used with full on line tracking.Where possible the ebay global shipping programme will be used and again full online tracking will be available. Of course collection of the clock is also an option and the new owner of the clock will be able to see the clock running and time will be taken to demonstrate the setting up procedure after the clock has been moved.
