The purchase was carried out through a Cypriot lawyer and is fully registered in my name with Cyprus Land Registry. Copies of original Contract of sale and all paperwork are available . Now the bad bit! Developer went bust/ disappeared, owing £53,000 on whole block, just after finishing the apts. No Title deeds as yet ,but thankfully,due to EU. pressure and law change in S. Cyprus, debts accrued by developers are now not the responsibility of the purchaser and are no longer a stumbling block for obtaining title deedsI have been advised by my Lawyer that I am perfectly entitled to now sell the apartment to a cash buyer through an "Assignment of my Rights" deriving from contract of sale. (Whatever that means!) Obtaining title deeds in Cyprus has been a long drawn out process and many people do not even bother.In this case, a title deed application has been filed and is currently being processed by land registry which in Cyprus could take 6 months or 10 years. A land registry File number is available. Prospective purchaser would need to do a fair bit of legwork ,but the apartment is valued at over £75,000 once title deeds are eventually issued. Any legal transfer costs would be down to purchaser, as I do not intend to spend another penny on the place ! There you have it, No tricks, No scams, I just need it gone !
