The medium sized spathe is a delicious chocolate colour with white stripes, and a long spadix drooping down over it. This species is native to Nepal, Assam, Tibet, Sikkim, India, Bhutan, Northen Myanmar and Yunnan Province in China. Grow the tubers in rich, well-draining soil, in dappled light. Provided with a sheltered spot and thick mulching over Winter, they can survive conditions in the UK. Alternatively, it could be grown in a large pot and moved to a cool greenhouse or conservatory over Winter. You are buying one single tuber, as seen on the photographs. These tubers range from 7cm to 9cm in length, and the cut bottom has already callused over.
