The detail in this cast is exceptional, and is easily mistaken for solid bronze. Great condition for it's age,with no scratches, and a lovely patina. Signed in the cast by the artist ,and named on the plaque at the front on the base. Henri-Louis Levasseur was working from 1853 to 1934, and among winning many medals for his work, he was awarded the bronze medal at the 1889 Universal Exhibition,first class in 1898 and silver in the 1900 Universal Exhibition.His work is found in the Copenhagen and Reims museums amongst others. This piece would look stunning in an entrance hall / reception in a hotel or home, or as a centre piece in any room. The base has been sensibly lined with felt .
