A stunning Art Deco period datelined Onyx Cigarette Box by Asprey of London, with red marble stringing, applied with a pair of carved coral tablets and with George Betjemann and Sons silver gilt hinge, hallmarked London, 1924.
The box was constructed using the best stone available at that time using the George Betjeman Patented Hinge design. On this box it was constructed from the finest silver and gilded, the hinge carries Hallmarks for George Betjemann & Sons Ltd, London 1924 as well as the ASPREY backstamp & Made in England.
The dimensions of the box are 15.2cm Wide x 10.2cm Deep and its stands 6cm in height.
Condition:- The front panel appears to have been re glued at the joints. Cover with a chip to the lower front edge. Another to the rear edge. Other slight flakes and scratches throughtout. Coral in good order and hinge in good working order with little wear to the gilding.
