Back interior of the cabinet is lined with pale duck egg coloured silk. Cabinet is raised on cabriole legs and has a Smiths clock on front. To support its provenance attached to rear is a shipping label from the manufacturer L (Leonard) Serlin & Sons to a Southampton address which confirms 'walnut 'Ashley'cabinet with silk lining' (see photograph). Date of manufacture based on the history of the Serlin company early 1930's. George Serlin and two sons went their seperate way in business in 1930 so it is believed this was one of the first pieces from Leonard Serlin. The delivery address stated on the label is E. Mayes & Son which was a premium department store in Southampton in the 1930's. Very good condition but some small marks/scratches commensurate for age of the piece. Silk lining and interior in perfect condition and overall a highly attractive art deco style cabinet. Height 115cm x width 86cm.
