A VERY FINE & BEAUTIFUL QUALITY WILLIAM IV ROSEWOOD TEA TABLE , CIRCA 1840.
In exceptional original condition with a wonderful colour and patina, one of the best tables of this type I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning. A great size for any home & obviously with the benefit of the top doubling in size when needed with one simple action.
The platform base is a wonderful serpentine shape with finely carved Lions paw feet , the column is also stunning with fine detail to the carving. Please note the top is nice & flat with no shrinkage cracks so commonly found in tables of this type, this I feel is due to the exceptional craftsmanship & quality of this table. Being as harsh as possible, the only small fault I can find is some shrinkage to the front edge veneer of the top - see pictures. Not really worth mentioning but it is there & hence the comment.
