Seller: fyvie51 (1,680) 100%, Location: SCOTLAND, Ships to: US, EuropeanUnion, JP, CA, AU, Item: 114003324367 On Offer is what I believe to be an Exceedingly Rare Miniature Lantern Alarm Clock , Signed John Knibb Oxon (Oxford). If correct,it would have been made in the reign of Charles II in about 1680,either at Oxford or London where his brother also made Clocks. His Family were very Important Clockmakers in both Oxford and London ,his Brother being Joseph and his Cousin John Wise.If you google " John Wise Miniature Lantern" you will come across a near Identical Clock on Offer by Chris Jussel Antiques in the US.at $12,000. I even have my suspicions that mine could also have been made by John Wise for John Knibb to retail out under HIS name as it is so similar. ?? I believe my clock to be genuine because (a) It is near identical to the John Wise Clock. (b) It features the Four Integral Bronze Pillars where Feet , Finials and Pillars are Cast as One. These were a feature of the Knibb and Wise Clockmakers. (c)Being Relatives, they would have used common suppliers, hence near identical features. My Clock is approx 22.5cms Tall.Chapter ring is 3.25" Diameter (8.3cms). It comes with Wooden Bracket and Four Weights as illustrated.I believe it to be Complete and to be a Runner BUT:It is sold for SPARES or REPAIR and it is SOLD as being IN THE STYLE OF A 17th CENTURY MINIATURE LANTERN CLOCK. I am an enthusiastic pensioner who enjoys Clocks and Ebaying and am sorry to be so pedantic, but I get fed up with Nitpicking "EXPERTS" who just want to pick faults to maybe get a lower price. Please do your own Due Diligence and make up your own mind as to its Authenticity.I have made up mine !! I cannot find one similar under £5000 and the prices rise to Five Figures. I can only find a few Similar examples on the Internet I will further discount the price to tempt the undecided. Please email any further queries you may have. Condition: Very Good. Please Read all of Description., Age: Antique, Pre-1900 (c1680), Material: Bronze, Type: Miniature, Features: Alarm, Sub-Type: Miniature, Clock Type: Lantern Clock
