It is signed 'Jno Tompson, Whitchurch' and has a very rear feature of an Alarm If we start with the hood this has a flat top finished with a nice deep moulding. The hood door is flanked by lovely turned columns which terminate in brass capital and plain back splats to the rear. If we then move down to the trunk this has lovely long door, which is nicely shaped to the top. The door also has a wonderful brass escutcheon and super little hinges. The hood door is flanked by reeded detailing. The base is raised on shaped bracket feet. The dial is engraved with the makers name of 'Jno Tompson, Whitchurch' and the movement is thirty hour duration and is single handed. The four corners are adorned with beautiful maiden head spandrels and the dial is very nicely engraved between the numerals. The centre of the dial has the very rare feature of an alarm. The dial also has the most wonderful single fretted finger. The clock is happily ticking away but is not being sold with a guarantee as we have not had is serviced. The clock is in nice condition just minor knocks / marks commensurate with age. There are some long dead woodworm holes to the hood door (please view photographs). The approximate MAXIMUM dimensions are: - 74.25 inches / 188.5 cm high to the top of the clock. - 18.25 inches / 46.5 cm wide across the hood - 12 inches / 30.5 cm wide across the trunk - 17 inches / 43 cm wide across the base - 10.5 inches / 27 cm deep across the hood In addition the dial is approximately 10.75 inches square. As can be seen from these dimension this is a very pretty clock of small proportions and is a rarity with being a single finger early clock and has an even rarer feature of an alarm.
