Seller: beano-forever (480) 100%, Location: Ferndown, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 333503197726 This is an opportunity to buy a reproduction of a Type 21 Bulle clock battery. Bulle electric clocks were manufactured in France between 1920 and 1950 and are now very collectable. Original batteries were discontinued in the 1950’s and most people now use a single D cell in a basic battery holder. The problem with this is that Bulle clocks accuracy drifts as the battery voltage changes, despite the Isochron spring used on the majority of the early clock designs. This reproduction battery contains an advanced high efficiency voltage regulator circuit encapsulated into the top. It contains a battery holder to house 4 off AA batteries. (Accessible from a push in stopper at the base) The final voltage for the bull clock can be adjusted over a range of 1.4V to 1.9V. There is a small multi-turn adjuster accessible through the top. This requires the use of a small instrument screwdriver. (Not supplied) The regulator will maintain the correct voltage until each AA battery discharges to approximately 0.9V A well restored Bulle clock can run correctly at 1.4V although the output voltage will be set to 1.6V before dispatch as this is the voltage of a typical new single cell alkaline battery. It is possible to run the reproduction battery on rechargeable batteries. Ideally these should be of the Eneloop type or other low self discharge types. Exact duration will be very dependent on the battery /type/capacity used. The battery has been designed to fit most Bulle clocks. This size will even fit within a Bulle clockette and also within the brass column on larger glass dome covered Bulle clocks. Connections to the Bulle clock are via hand tightening brass screw terminals (as per original batteries) Note Bulle clocks are polarity sensitive, the centre screw terminal is Positive + Dimensions of battery: height 105mm, width 39mm,depth 39mm Height is from battery base to top of the terminals. This latest regulator has been redesigned to have an even lower operating current than previous versions With good fresh alkaline batteries with a typical restored Bulle clock, the alkaline AA batteries will last between 12 and 18 months. The regulator is supplied with a warranty of 12 months from delivery date. Note: The original type 21 battery shown in one of the images is NOT included in this auction. Thank you for looking.
