We are offering for sale, our recently converted (by our own fair hands) savoyard barn, in the beautiful mountain village of Doucy, in the Valmorel Grand Domain ski area – 165km of pistes, ranging from greens to couloirs. There is also an outdoor pool at Doucy station open during the hot summer months. Doucy village is situated 3.5km from the ski lift at Doucy Combelouviere. It is a typical french mountain village, stunning views and lovely friendly community who inhabit all year round. It has its own local school with class sizes of about 10! as only the village children attend, and there are lots of families here, some who go back generations. The children play out all the time in the fresh air, and I have yet to see one – even the older ones, with a phone! We are the only English in the village and have been welcomed with open arms, so much so, we are only selling the chalet because we want to buy another project close by!!! The chalet is currently rented out seasonally on a weekly self catered basis with occasional catered weeks as we choose. It would easily be possible to change to a fully catered chalet or chambre d'hotes, or in fact simply keep it as a private home or holiday home, the choice is yours. It is fully equipped and ready to go if you chose to rent it out, but the price is negotiable if you would prefer to furnish yourself. The flexibility and possibilities are many, as it also has a self contained studio aparment below the chalet where we currently live, as the chalet is rented out most weeks during the winter and summer seasons. This studio would lend itself to easily convert to a sauna / boot room/ workshop / bike storage etc. Or keep it as a private studio to rent out for which there is a lot of demand in winter from seasonal workers. Bedroom 2 – Large spacious bedroom set up to accommodate 4 people in a double bed and bunkbeds. En suite shower room with toilet and heated towel radiator and underfloor heating. Stairs from the landing lead to the 2nd floor: Exposed stone walls and original wooden beams, open stairs allowing light to pass. Library / reading area with recycled wooden shelves. Bedroom 3 – Currently set up to welcome 5 guests, in a double bed, single bed and bunk beds. Large room with en suite shower and toilet, heated towel rail and underfloor heating. Handmade wooden dining table and built in storage benches, seating up to 16 people, sits opposite a fully equipped kitchen, set up for large scale catering. Fridge freezer, dishwasher, wine fridge, 5 burner gas hob and large electric oven, with a central stainless steel island bench for preparing and serving. The Lounge area comprises a large L shaped sofa, with various stools / wicker chairs to compliment the layout, and a central feature of a large woodburner. The TV is currently set up on english freeview. The lounge area also has large picture windows with magnificent views, or you could venture out onto the beautiful rooftop terrace via the sliding patio doors, where the views are even more impressive. Above the kitchen sits an original mezzanine, now housing the 3 large new electric 200 litre water tanks, (set on timers to heat over night and can be individually switched if less people are resident) and the rest is used as storage. The chalet is fully equipped to rent out, including things like raclette machines, crockery, cutlery, cooking pots and pans and everything you would expect to find in a chalet of this quality. There are two sets of linen, one set on the beds, and one ready to change, as well as some spares. All linen, duvets pillows are also included in the sale – it is literally ready to rent (it has already been rented out for a year, and this season is also almost fully booked). If you prefer not to have the fixtures, fittings and furniture, the price can be negotiated. As a total renovation, the entire building has been rewired, replumbed, has a brand new roof, new floors etc. The village has mains drains, to which we are connected, so no need to worry about septic tanks as is often the case. The studio apartment is situated underneath the main chalet (the old cave where the animals were kept!) and comprises of a small fenced outdoor area, a fitted kitchen including oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, integrated fridge freezer, lounge area, Freeview TV is pre wired and runs from upstairs, on a seperate feed. The bedroom area is seperated from the lounge by a handbuilt wooden divider, which is a large wardrobe on the bedroom side. There is a washing machine and an en suite shower room with toilet, heated towel radiator and the entire apartment is very well insulated and heated using underfloor heating.
