Find us at www.mershammanorantiques.co.uk A little bit about us-We are a husband and wife team, and have spent many years developing our knowledge as collectors of fine antiques. Along the way we have restored many period properties, and have enjoyed furnishing them in our favourite " English Country House Style" and because of our passion for anything old & beautiful, and appreciation of real quality and craftsmanship, which sadly today`s furniture generally does not offer, we decided to turn a much loved hobby / obsession! into a business and pass our beautiful finds onto other people to enjoy. With our endless "treasure hunts" for the original and authentic, we offer a diverse selection of antique furniture and quality decorative items, ranging from the 17th century to the 20th century in all price ranges, making it possible for everyone to own a little piece of history, and true craftsmanship. We have been collectors for over 30 years and have been successfully trading for 15 of those years. We regularly work with interior designers and fellow dealers. We are happy to source any particular items you may be looking for. Our knowledge and expertise allows us to source many varied and high quality items. Our showrooms are within our beautiful Grade I listed Medieval Manor House in the pretty village of Mersham in Kent. A wonderful late 17th century oak, pegged construction hanging cupboard. Having two panelled doors of different sizes, which open to reveal the original and very charming wooden hanging pegs. These are to the front and back. There has been in more recent times a brass hanging rail added. The cupboard comes in two parts, making it easier to maneuver. The character to this charming cupboard is wonderful, having a lovely rich colour and patina. The original hinges to the doors are particularly lovely. The back in my opinion is even more wonderful than the front, the original timbers are wonderfully thick and rustic. There are two very old labels attached to the two parts of the cupboard. These read- Oliver Baker.Dealer Of Ancient Furniture.Stratford-Upon-Avon. There is then a delivery address to a- Mr Barton Esq, of 53 West Cromwell Road, London. There is an Oliver Baker 1856-1939 recorded as an artist, author and antique dealer in Bearly, Stratford-Upon-Avon. The overall condition is excellent antique condition. With expected general signs of age and use. Very solid sturdy and strong. Having developed a wonderful rich colour and glowing patina.
