Item:272949799744~ Circa 1900 German Mahogany Cased Wall Clock - Serviced ~ The mahogany case has a wonderful bright colour, glass to the front and sides. The piece also features three finials to the top and three finials to the bottom. The mahogany feature to the top of the clock is easily dethatched by a biscuit joint; the piece features three finials, a sloping arched roof effect and a carving of a woman’s face. The dial is made of porcelain & uses roman numerals with the minutes in denominations of five. It has one key hole on the clock face to wind the mechanism. The front door opens, it is hinged to the right and has a hook to the left to secure the door. The pendulum has “R=A” written on it. “R” stands for Ruckwarts which is the German word for backwards and the “A” stands for Aufwarts which is the German word for up. This pendulum has a nut to screw up or down. Bringing the pendulum down by unscrewing the nut (down towards the R) slows the clock. Screwing it up (towards the A) will speed up the clock. This measure is for regulating the clock to keep good time. The mechanism is spring driven. The clock has been professionally serviced and keeps good time. ~ Dimensions ~ The clock has a height of 30 ¾ inches (78 cm), a width of 12.6 inches (32 cm) and a depth of 6 ¾ inches (17.2 cm). It weighs 3.66 Kg. ~ Condition ~ The wood is in an overall good condition with only a few small marks and tiny chips. The dial is in an excellent condition with no noticeable wear. chips, cracks or damage.
