General Description: Clove oil comes from an evergreen tree native to Indonesia, with bright green waxy leaves and dark pink flowers that are dried to create the familiar ‘bud’. Essential oil can also be obtained from the leaf and stem, but these are much more irritating than clove bud oil and should never be used in skin applications. Clove bud essential oil is a warming winter oil with a strong initial aroma and associations with Christmas. It must be highly diluted to use on the skin.

Commonly associated with: Warming, Comforting, Antiseptic. Traditionally clove oil has been used as a breath freshener and it is commonly added to commercial dental products today. Diffused, it is a useful room antiseptic. It is mainly used for its fragrant properties rather than in skincare, it can irritate the skin or give a slight feeling of numbness. Emotionally it is revitalizing and good for irritable feelings.
