Ledge Protection:

The Defender Plastic Pigeon Spike is specifically designed to protect ledges of up to 10 cm (4 inches) wide, from pigeons and similar sized birds that nest, fowl and roost on your property.

Installation Guide

Our Defender™ Bird Spikes have been designed with the customer in mind. All of our bird control products are standalone systems that have no need for complicated measurements, specialist tools or insider knowledge. We recommend Defender Bird Spike Silicone  as the best way to install which can be purchased separately, however, screws, nails or cable ties can be used as an alternative. A caulking gun will be required for the larger tubes of glue and is not supplied.

  1. Before starting the job, access the work to make sure you can do it safely without hurting yourself or others. It is advisable to wear suitable protective clothing such as overalls, gloves and dust mask.
  2. All areas to be spiked should be clean, dry and free from bird droppings. A cleaning solution like Bird Droppings Germ Clear™ (Available to purchase from our shop) will help loosen dirt and old pigeon guano whilst at the same time preventing bird dropping dust forming.
  3. Squeeze Defender Bird Spike Fixing Silicone along the base of the spike - about a 10 mm bead is recommended.
  4. Press the first row of spikes onto the leading edge of the ledge ensuring the glue oozes through the silicone fixing holes.
  5. The spikes can be snapped to length using your fingers to ensure every part of the ledge is covered. No extra tools are required.
  6. Further rows can be added behind this if the ledge is wider. Ensure any cavities behind the ledge are empty and have been blocked before work begins.
