Early 19th Century Regency William IVth Double Fusee Bracket Clock with Strike Silent. Plus Wall Bracket. In stunning untouched conserved condition. Classical Design with Pineapple Finial Circa 1820-1830 This really is a nice item for the collector or home designer looking for historical Georgian items and what is actually very rare about it, is the fact that the case has retained its original finish without being touched. Practically all clocks of this period have undergone some sort of restoration and have been tarted up by being polished up to a rich sheen or even re French polished. You could put this clock anywhere and it would look as if it hasn’t moved for many, many decades. However, this does not a reflect that the movement has been neglected, as it is in full working order and has previously been serviced and re bushed in places. My feeling is that the case has simply been left untouched and in the clock world, this discipline is very rare and a joy to find. If you have ever visited the National Trust Property Chastleton House in Oxfordshire and looked at the furniture there, you will understand what I mean. They have a policy not to polish anything in the house. Just dusted and the house is famed for it. You will also notice in the photos of the movement the really fine detail of the 5 pillars and extra neat finishing of the steelwork, so the clockmaker must have been very proud of his work as indeed I am. Please see photos as they form part of the description. The photos don't really do it justice as in the flesh it is much nicer and I apologise for the unavoidable light reflections in the photos.
