Seller: douglas3353 (1,291) 100%, Location: Monmouthshire, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 372741592779 Description: This lovely, solid silver sauce boat is of oval form; with a high ‘C’ scroll handle, to a plain body with card-cut rim; and stands on three splayed legs, that have acanthus leaf shoulders and hoof feet. ********************* Condition: Apart from the usual fine surface scratching commensurate with age and use, it is in excellent condition for 83 years old; with no dents, damage or repairs that I can see and is without a monogram or crest. ********************* Measurements: It measures approx. 5 cm high at the centre of the body, 6 cm high to the highest point of the pouring lip, 8.3 cm high to the highest point on the handle, 15.5 cm from the front of the pouring lip through to the back of the handle, 8.5 cm across the widest part of the card-cut rim, has a capacity of 150 ml / ¼ pint and weighs 92.3 grams. ********************* Hallmarks: It is fully hallmarked with: the lion passant for English 925 silver, the assay mark for the much sought after and highly collectable Chester office (which closed in 1962), the date letter for 1936 and the maker’s mark for Adie Brothers Ltd. It is also stamped to the underside with the retailers’ name – John Bagshaw & Sons, Liverpool.
