The sweetest antique baby brooch, beautifully made in 9ct gold. The pin is a rich yellow gold and they ‘Baby’ motif is a warmer slightly pinkish shade of gold (a soft rose). The pin dates from the Edwardian period, 1902.
Traditionally baby brooches were gifted at christenings, as the first piece of precious jewellery. I can also see them being given today as a stylish love token.
Approximate Dimensions: 3.4cm long, ‘Baby’ lettering 1.4 x 2.1cm and 1.3 grams in weight.
Marks: the back of the ‘Baby’ motif has full UK hallmarks for 9 carat gold, Birmingham assay office, the date letter for 1902 and the makers mark GG. The pin itself has also been electronically tested as 9 carat gold.
Condition: excellent for age with no damage to note and a good functioning gold pin. It will be sent in the new box shown in the photos, ideal for gifting and safekeeping.
