Complete with the choice of Westminster or Whittington melody. Also a handy silent switch located to the right on the solid beautiful brass dial.The case is walnut, the original finish is beautiful.Some signs of use to be expected. The original brass winding key is included. Size is 9" wide, 6" deep and 15" tall. This Original British Elliott Bracket/Mantle Clock is in used Condition and Therefore Not New.Very heavy at around 5-6kg unpacked. Instructions. Winding and Setting of Hands. All 3 winding arbors in the dial must be fully wound each week, they provide the power. To set hands at the correct hour move them forward taking care not to force them, never move anti clockwise. Chiming and Striking. These clocks are fitted with a unique automatic action which switches off the chime at 11 p.m. until 7 a.m, thus ensuring that the lightest sleeper is not disturbed by the chime at night. If the clock has been allowed to run down completely, after winding make sure the night silencer is operating during the correct period 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., if not then move the hands forward by 12 hours. To select either of the 2 chimes, Westminster or Whittington, open the door at the back of the clock an turn indicator brass dial on the left of the back plate of the movement to the position indicated by the arrow for the chime required. If the clock is required without strike or chime (i.e. Silent) press down the lever which is located by 3 o’clock on the dial, this can be brought into operation at any time, car should however be taken that the clock is not about to chime when this put into operation. Regulation. To regulate the clock open the door at the back and move the regulator arm on the back of the lever escapment at the top of the movement towards “S” if the clock is going and in the opposite direction if it is losing.
