Seller: beano-forever (482) 100%, Location: Ferndown, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 333503196530 This is an opportunity to buy a Eureka battery with voltage regulated output. · Eureka battery electric clocks were manufactured in the UK between 1910 and 1914 and are now very collectable and some models very rare.· All models of the Eureka clock all used the same size 1.5V zinc carbon large flag battery made by Ever Ready. They are now obsolete.· Although there is still a company manufacturing a Flag battery, they are really just a container with 3 off D size alkaline batteries and one C size battery all connected in parallel. This arrangement does not give best battery life. Alternatively some clock owners just fit one D size battery and accept the short battery life. · The problem with this is that all Eureka clock time keeping degrades as the battery voltage changes. (Typically 1.6V for a brand new alkaline battery, down to 1.2V where typically a Eureka clock will stop or be very erratic in time keeping.) For most people a Eureka clock that loses or gains more than 10 minutes a week, becomes just a curious ornament. · This Eureka battery contains an advanced voltage regulator circuit encapsulated into the top. It contains a battery holder to house 4 off batteries. (Accessible by removing the top moulding from the case. Batteries not supplied) · The final voltage for the bull clock can be adjusted over a range of 1.4V to 1.9V. There is a small mult-iturn adjuster accessible through the top. An adjustment tool designed for this purpose will be supplied with the regulator. · The regulator will maintain the correct voltage until each C battery discharges to approximately 1V .The regulator is protected against any possible short circuit that might occur when connecting to the clock. The regulator can supply 0.5A if required for other flag cell applications.· The regulator circuit is designed to have a very low operating current and very efficient voltage conversion. With good fresh alkaline batteries, with a typical restored Eureka clock, the alkaline C batteries will last between 12 and 16 months. · There have been other battery holders available for Eureka clocks. These are either much more expensive ( > £80) or consume a high current to operate and all give a significantly shorter battery life.( one gave a battery life of 3 months even when not connected to a clock.) · The battery holder has been designed to fit all Eureka clocks including very early break arch versions with smaller battery spaces. Dimensions of battery:height 160 mm, diameter 63 mm. Height is from battery base to top of the terminals. · Connections to the Bulle clock are via hand tightening screw terminals (as per original batteries) Note. Eureka clocks are not polarity sensitive. The centre screw terminal however is Positive + · This Eureka clock battery regulator is the most efficient and cost effective available to date and is being sold with a warranty of 12 months from delivery date.
