Please see the pictures below the description

You are bidding on an excellent 8 day key wind carriage clock which, I would say, dates from the early 1900s. It does not have any makers name on it, but I would say it is French. This is the same size as a standard carriage clock apart from being not quite so tall. The brass case has very nice columns on it which make it a very attractive little clock. It has been fitted sometime ago with a Gorge compensated lever escapement. The clock has been fully dismantled, including the platform escapement, and has had both a manual and ultrasonic clean. It has then been checked and had any necessary work done on it, before then being re-assembled and oiled, so is in excellent working condition. When stripped down, the mainspring was removed from the barrel, cleaned and inspected, then properly lubricated before being fitted back. The mainspring is the 'heart' of a clock, so it is important that it is serviced properly. The movement naturally has a few age related marks, although these are minimal. The clock runs for its full length of wind which is the region of eight days. It comes with its original double ended steel carriage clock key. The clock is wound and set with the key through the back door. The dial is very good with no hairlines - there is just a small old repair to the top left corner, but this is hidden under the top of the brass case and bevel on the glass. It has nice Roman numerals, and the clock has blued steel hands, which are very good. All glasses are bevelled, including the top oval one, and there are no chips and cracks. The brass case has some very light age related marks in places, but these are again quite minimal. There are two very light marks on the top of the case where the handle has come into contact with it over the years. The case has been fully dismantled and polished by hand to preserve the detail. It has then been treated with wax to help inhibit tarnish. The nicely shaped ornate handle is tight, the back door closes as it should, and the clock has its baseplate. It is approximately 9.1/2cm high to the top of the case, and approximately 13cm high to the top of the handle when it is up. The base width is 8cm. I have tried to be very accurate with my description and mention everything I feel the buyer should know, however, please contact me if you have any further questions. The clock will come with a service report showing what work has been done on the movement, and I will also enclose a set of my clock information sheets, written generally to cover the set-up and maintenance of most types of clock. I will always be happy to give extra specific information if needed. UK mainland 24 hour shipping will be by Royal Mail Special Delivery - the clock will be double boxed in new boxes to ensure that it reaches you in perfect condition. I welcome overseas bidders - the clock will be shipped by Royal Mail 'Signed For'. It will also be tracked, when this service is available, as this depends on the country being shipped to. If you are bidding on any of my other auctions, I will combine postage on multiple items.

Any items paid for by Paypal will only be sent to a Paypal approved address. All UK items will be sent, unless otherwise stated, by Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded. All items, if under the maximum weight limit of 2kg when packed, will be sent overseas by Royal Mail Airmail International 'Tracked and Signed' service unless otherwise stated. Items are now sent this way to conform to eBay/Paypal regulations that safeguard both the buyer and the seller. This can make the shipping charge, particularly for overseas bidders, higher than possibly expected as the Recorded/Signed For service adds considerably to overseas postage. I can accept no responsibility in the very rare event that items get lost in the post, but I will endeavour to do all I can to help the buyer by contacting Royal Mail and getting them to do the necessary search. Please be aware that it is illegal to falsify the value or contents on Customs documentation and under no circumstances will I do this. Overseas buyers are responsible for all duties and taxes, if applicable, that are levied by their Customs.
